The Consolidated Court Automation Programs(CCAP) is a way to easily access case records and case calendars regarding Wisconsin Circuit Court cases. CCAP efiling option makes it easy for the general public and others to file cases with the circuit courts in Wisconsin. The CCAP efiling service does require that individuals wanting to file documents register for an eCourts account.
Registering for eCourts
To create an eCourts account for using efiling service, you will need to access the following link http://efiling.wicourts.gov. When you access the link you will be directed to the Circuit Court CCAP efiling home page. You will need to click on the link that says Create an Account. You will be asked to select a user type. The user types and descriptions will be listed and you will need to select the one that applies to you.
You will then need to fill out the registration form to create your CCAP efiling eCourts account. The information that you will be asked for includes the following:
To create a username and password.
Name including first and last.
Address this includes mailing, physical, and email.
Recovery email address and phone number
Phone numbers to contact you including home, mobile, and fax numbers
You will need to create 3 security questions and provide the answers to questions in the event you are locked out of your account.
Once you have completed your eCourts registration form, you will receive an email containing your username and PIN. You will need to confirm your email address by clicking on the link provided in the email. You will need to enter your PIN to activate your CCAP efiling eCourts account.
How CCAP efiling Service Works
Once your eCourts account has been activated, you will need to select an application to perform. The options that will be available include the following:
Appellate court efiling
Circuit Court efiling
Myforms forms assistant
Attorney continuing legal education reporting
CCAP efiling will file the court cases in the county that you select. This is equivalent to visiting the courthouse in person and filing a case. You have access to the CCAP efiling service 24 hours a day/ 7 days a week unless scheduled maintenance is being performed.
If you choose to use the efile system there is a charge of $20 per filer. You will also need to pay for fees for filing the court case and this can be done online using a debit or credit card. If you cannot afford the costs to file a case, you have the option of filling out a waiver when filing your court case.
